get-quotes1Sacramento health insurance plans come in a wide range of options.  Most of the major health insurance carriers offer a variety of PPO, HMO and HSA plans to choose from.  The largest choice of plan types is a PPO style plan, which offers freedom of choice to any physician, specialist or hospital in the particular health insurance company network.  In most cases these networks are vast, for example the Anthem Blue Cross of California PPO network has over 50,000 physicians and 400 hospitals throughout California you can visit at anytime.  Referrals are not necessary.  Also no matter where you travel or visit, whether it’s around the start or across the country, we’ve got you covered.

So, what exactly is a PPO?
With a PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) health care plan, you’ll pay a lower share of your medical expenses when use doctors or hospitals that participate in our PPO network.  Your share of expenses includes:

  1. Deductible: typically this is an amount you pay each calendar year for services your health care plan covers before the plan starts paying.  Please note that some PPO plans may not have a deductible and may pay for certain services before the deductible is met.
  2. Coinsurance: After your annual deductible is met, this is the percentage of the cost for which you will be responsible for services that your plan covers.
  3. Out of Pocket Maximum: This is an annual amount you would be responsible for before the insurance company pay 100% for the rest of the year.  An average annual out of pocket maximum is usually around $4,000 - $5,000 per year.  This is the most you would pay even in the event of a major illness or accident.

The amount of your deductible and coinsurance depends on the plan that you choose.  A PPO plan will also pay a portion of the cost of services you may receive from a non-participating (non-network) provider or hospital.  But your share of the cost will be significantly higher.

There are also PPO Dental plan which work in the same manner as the PPO health plan, using a network of providers.

Sacramento Health Insurance plans may also be for seniors looking for Medicare Supplement plans.  Although with a Medicare Supplement plan you are able to see any doctor, specialist or hospital who accepts Medicare.
