Sunnyvale CA Medicare Supplement Plans and Rates

Sunnyvale California Medicare Supplement (Medigap) rates and plans are available from some of the most competitive and well respected insurance companies.  The companies are: Aetna, Anthem, Blue Shield, Health Net and UnitedHealthcare.

All companies offer Plans F, some offer Plan N and a few offer Plan G.  All with different coverage levels.

New to Medicare Discount …

If you are new to Medicare and are enrolling into a Medicare Supplement, both Anthem and Blue Shield offer a $20 per month discount for the first year you are on Medicare.  That’s a $240 savings.

Spouse Discount …

Most of the above companies also have a “spouse discount” with saving between 5% – 12%.  If both enroll in the same company and plan, you premiums will be discounted.

Don’t forget your Medicare Part D Rx plan …

Medicare Advantage HMO …

If you want to also take a look at the available Medicare Advantage HMO plans in the Sunnyvale area, you can do that here.  Anthem, Blue Shield and Aetna all have several HMO’s to choose from.  It’s very important to make sure your doctor is contracted with the plan you choose.  If not you will need to find a new Primary Care Doctor when you enroll in the Medicare Advantage plan.

Free to Choose your Doctors with a Medicare Supplement …

Medicare Supplement Policies, you are able to see any doctor hospital or provider as long as they accept Medicare.  You can see doctors and hospitals in other cities, counties and States if you wish, there are no networks to check.  If they accept Medicare, by law they must accept the secondary insurance, which in this case is the Medicare Supplement or Medigap plan.

Make Sure you have Medicare Part B …

When approaching age 65 or if you are already 65 but are on a group health insurance plan (in which care you do not need to start Medicare). In both cases you will need to check with Social Security to make sure your Medicare Part B coverage is starting when you want it to start. Medicare Part A starts automatically when you turn 65, although Medicare Part B (outpatient coverage) many time does not start when you turn 65 unless you notify Medicare.

You can call Social Security, or enroll in Part B online (  You will need to have both Medicare Part A and Part B in place and active in order to enroll in any Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage or Medicare Part D plan.


When seeing an Anthem in-network dentist you will enjoy a 25% to 40% savings right off the top, because of the contracted rates.  These savings are also available during waiting periods, when you’ve gone over your yearly limit or when you’ve used up your benefits.  Your dental costs will also be reduced even more with the plan insurance coverage.
