Part A:(pays for inpatient hospital, skilled nursing facility, and some home health care) For each benefit period Medicare pays all covered costs except the Medicare Part A deductible (2010 = $1,100) during the first 60 days and coinsurance amounts for hospital stays that last beyond 60 days and no more than 150 days.
For each benefits period you pay:
- A total of $1,100 for a hospital stay of 1-60 days.
- $275 per day for days 61-90 of a hospital stay.
- $550 per day for days 91-150 of a hospital stay.

How do I enroll in a Medicare Supplement plan?
It’s simple, you complete the enrollment application and mail it to the address below with a copy of your Medicare card and a check for the first months premium, payable to the appropriate company. I’ll do the rest for you. And remember you have a 30 day free look with any of these companies.
If you have Medicare Part A and Part B you have choices, many choices. Most will choose either a Medicare Supplement plan or a Medicare Advantage plan to pay for the out of pocket expenses (deductibles and copayments).
Next summer (June 1, 2010) there will be two new Medicare Supplement plans added to the mix. You can view them here.
