Gerber Medicare Supplement – Good all around company
Gerber Life is a fabulous company with very competitive rates, but if you are in a hurry to receive your Medicare Supplement approval and ID card, you may have to wait a little longer than some other top Med Supp carriers. Currently Gerber, by their own account, is taking 4 to 6 weeks to process a Medicare Supplement application. The reason, seem to be the unexpected increase in application volume, most likely because of their competitive monthly premiums. Large volumes of applications entering processing departments will increase approval times regardless of the company. We usually see this towards the beginning of each year for most companies. The majority of policies renew January 1 each year, which causes an increase in policy changes, new applications, questions, upgrades and downgrades. So don’t be surprised if your company is a little slower during this time of year. Plus there is the Christmas holiday vacation times which add to the pressure.
So if you are shopping for a new Medicare Supplement plan, please keep this in mind when you are considering companies. With Gerber you will notice thier claims, billing or other administrative tasks provide excellent customer service. In fact they are very good at all administrative processes.
Once issued you will notice all Gerber Medicare Supplement policies are administered through Mutual of Omaha. Gerber has contracted Mutual of Omaha to handle all of the administration including; policy delivery, billing and customer service.
Include these in your comparison:
- Family Life
- Anthem Blue Cross
- Aetna
- Blue Shield
- HealthNet
- Freedom Blue Medicare PPO (Anthem Blue Cross)
All Medicare Supplement plans went through changes effective June 1, 2010. They had to comply with new federal guidelines, along with adjusting their rates for the new plans. The new plans are almost identical to the older standardized plans. So, if you have not converted you current Medicare Supplement to a new “Modernized” plan (effective 6/1/2010) please contact me for information on how to transfer to the new lower priced plans.
Some companies also offer a “High-Deductible Plan F. These high deductible plans pay the same benefits as the traditional Plan F after one has paid a calendar year deductible of $2,000. Benefits from high-deducitble Plan F do not begin until one’s out-of-pocket expenses exceed $2,000
Please feel free to call anytime regrading the new Modernized Gerber Life Medicare Supplement rates and benefits. I’m here to help.
