Folsom’s most popular California Medicare Supplement plans are Plans G, F and N.
The primary difference between plan F and N is, Plan N has an annual outpatient deductible of $183, then a $20 copay for all outpatient doctor, specialist and lab services. The emergency room copay is $50, and the inpatient hospital coverage is 100%.
Plan G is very similar to plan F except G doesn’t pay for the Medicare Part B outpatient annual deductible which is currently $183.
First you need to find the right plan for your unique needs, either a Medicare Supplement plan or a Medicare Advantage plan, if it’s a Medicare Supplement, plan F being the most popular, then plans G and N, are close.
Each plan offers a different level of coverage. With Original Medicare you would be responsible for the Medicare deductibles, percentages and co-insurance.
A Medicare Supplement is always “secondary coverage” which means, when you go to a doctor or hospital, they are required to send the “claim” to Medicare first, not to the California Medicare Supplement company. Once Medicare approves the claim or services, Medicare notifies the Medicare Supplement company, who then pays their portion. It’s that simple.
Which Company and Plan … Find the coverage and price which will work with your health care needs and budget.
Not all companies are created equal, some are easier than others to deal with. I’ll tell you whether they are a good performer or if they are hard to deal with. Rates are important but also how well the company performs for you.
Are they easy to contact, do they make changes to your account quickly and accurately, do they have flexible billing options? These are all questions you should be asking yourself before you enroll in the new plan.
Anthem, Blue Shield and Health Net … are in my opinion, some of the best when it comes to insuring and servicing seniors and their Medicare plans. I can call and receive answers quickly. Changes to members accounts are done accurately and on time. Their rates are typically very competitive in the different counties near Folsom and around Northern California. Anthem Blue Cross of California is definitely a company you should include when comparing Medicare Supplement plans and rates.
