Anthem Medicare Supplement Guaranteed Issue
Great news on the Anthem front!! Anthem Blue Cross Medicare Supplement plans in Indiana along with all of the other Anthem states are offering an opportunity to transfer to one of their Medicare Supplement plans guaranteed. Here’s the deal; if you currently have a Medicare Supplement plan in force with another company, you can transfer to one of the Anthem Medicare Supplement plans with the same plan or a lesser benefit plan, and you don’t have to answer any medical questions. So regardless of your current or past health status, your transfer is guaranteed.
In most states Anthem offers Medicare Supplement plans: A, F, High Deductible F, G and N. This is a great opportunity for those who may have some health issues which would prohibit them from shopping plans. In my opinion Anthem has done a great job with keeping their rates very competitive in most areas. Compare the Anthem rates to what you currently have, because the current offer is scheduled to end 12/31/2011. Remember this guaranteed-issue transfer opportunity is available to anyone with a current Medicare Supplement plan and is guaranteed regardless of your health status. When applying you will need to show proof of coverage from your current carrier. Also, the transfer is for plans with the same benefits or less. Feel free to call anytime with your questions.

The Medicare Supplement industry offers “guaranteed-issue“ guidelines which provides other guaranteed-issue opportunities besides the current Anthem offer.
Anthem offers Medicare Supplement plans in the following states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin. You can compare the different state rates here:
Four Parts of Medicare:
Medicare Part A: Medicare Part A is Hospital Insurance and is premium free for most beneficiaries. It pays the cost for a Medicare Beneficiary during an Inpatient hospital stay, after you have payed the $1,132.00 Benefit Period deductible. Each benefit period is 60 days. You could possibly have 6 Part A deductibles in a year.
Medicare Part B: Medicare Part B is “Medical Insurance” (outpatient). There is a monthly premium for Medicare Part B that may be deducted from your Social Security check each month. Part B pays costs like outpatient surgery, doctor visits, lab and X-Ray and medical equipment. The Part B deductible is; $162 per year, the 80% coverage after the deductible.
Medicare Part C: Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Medicare A & B coverage from the federal government. It offers the same benefits from a private insurance company. Some plans add benefits like dental, vision or hearing coverage. Most Medicare Advantage plans are HMO’s and PPO’s. Some include the Medicare Part D Rx coverage. Medicare Advantage plans have an open enrollment period each year during the month of December.
Medicare Part D: Medicare Part D is Prescription Drug Insurance. It helps pay the cost of your prescription medication. Part D plans have an open enrollment period during the month of December each year, which allows you to compare and change plans or companies.
