2016 Anthem Blue Cross has both Medicare Supplement plans and Anthem Medicare Advantage plans. Each are quite different from the other. Premiums, coverage benefits, enrollment dates etc. The Medicare Advantage plan is “primary” coverage which means Medicare does not typically pay for any services. The Medicare Supplement is “secondary” coverage and pays the deductibles, percentages and other out of pocket costs which Medicare does not pay for.

No networks of physicians or territories to deal with. As far as coverage, the Anthem Medicare Supplement plan F provides 100% coverage. Anthem Medicare Advantage HMO & PPO Plans … Medicare Advantage plans are typically HMO’s and PPO’s, and they look and feel much like an employer health insurance plan. With co-pays, deductibles, percentages and other out of pocket costs. The Medicare Advantage plans also include the Medicare Part D Rx plan at no extra cost.
Medicare Advantage plans are also very affordable, sometimes even at $0 premium. They have an annual “Open-Enrollment” period that runs from October 15 through December 7 each year, which allows you to compare other companies in your area, and switch if you choose to.
One of the problems with Medicare Advantage plans is they change every year. Benefits, premiums and doctor / hospital networks. Sometimes the company will even cancel the plan all together.
