My husband and I live in Texas and are currently on BC/BS COBRA coverage until October when my husband turns 65. We have been evaluating some Medicare supplements and have some interest in Secure Horizons. We would like to know how it compares with BC/BS and other supplements.

    Thanks,
    Judy

Hi Judy, what is your zip code, and I’ll send you the rates of all the competitive carriers. When it comes to Medicare Supplement plans, price is king, then financial strength, then customer service. I’ll show you the rates and give you my opinion, if you like.

    Thanks … John Conner

What are the deductibles for Medicare supplement Plan F for Mutual of Omaha?

  • john (author) said:

Hi Delores, Medicare Supplement Plan F’s do not have any deductibles, copays or percentages, regardless of the company you purchase the plan from.

    Thanks .. John Conner

Hi John, I talked to you a coiple of months ago about the Medicare Supplements Insurance, we did sign up for the Unitedhealthcare and I also checked on Health Net, it is 79.00 per month or each of us, my only concern is that it is an HMO, the deductable is high, 6700 per year, and the explanation is not too clear. The company called last night and said I have 7 days to cancel if I wish too, I don’t want a high monthly rate, I did not go thru an agent, did it online ,

Hi Lynne, if you don’t want a HMO style plan, the only options are to move to the Anthem Medicare PPO plan in Alameda County for $131 per month. Or, a Medicare Supplement Plan N for example for $103 per month plus a Medicare Part D Rx plan which usually runs between $15 to $40.

Lynne feel free to call me if you have any questions.

    Thanks .. John

Hi John, I’m 63 yrs. old and on medicare due to a disability.
I need knee replacement surgery soon, but have been putting it
off because I’m unable to find a supplement plan to pick up the 20%
which I would be responsible for. Do you know of any health plans
in Georgia that would allow anyone under 65yrs. old to apply for.

I would appreciate any information you would share. Your immediate
    respond would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Faye

Hi Faye, if you are within 6 months from when your Medicare Part B started, you can enroll in a Medicare Supplement plan which will pay the 20%. If you are passed the 6 month open-enrollment period, you will need to wait until the next Medicare Advantage open-enrollment period which is later this year, to see if any plans fit your needs in your area of Georgia.

    Thanks … John Conner
